Key specs and features of the new Buick Envista

Buick is a leading SUV brand with manufacturing plants across the country. The Envista is one of its popular offerings in the compact crossover segment. Buick recently upgraded this model to add exciting features like a remote start and rear-parking assist. It has also given the car a new paint color. But despite the upgrades, the Buick’s brand-new Envista crossover remains affordable, with a starting price of around $23,700 for the base trim.

Performance

The Envista has three trims – Preferred, Sport Touring, and Avenir. All trims have an ECOTEC 1.2L Turbo engine and a 6-speed automatic transmission that’s responsive and smooth. This engine can generate a maximum horsepower of 137 and 162 lb-ft of torque, sufficient for a lively performance for everyday city driving. The car can sprint from 0 to 60 mph in 9.3 seconds, which is relatively quicker than many other small SUVs in this class.

The car has a stopping distance of 125 feet when driven at 60 mph, so its braking system is also fine-tuned. The firm-feeling brake pedal helps with smooth halts and easy control, which is reassuring for the person behind the wheel.

As per the EPA estimates, the Envista can drive 30 mpg in combined highway/city driving. The fuel economy can reach about 32 mpg on open roads.

Comfort

Buick’s brand-new Envista crossover is comfortable to ride in. Road and wind noise are almost negligible inside the cabin, so passengers can enjoy a peaceful journey. The three-cylinder engine is also well-isolated, meaning one wouldn’t be bothered by its vibrations and sound when starting the SUV.

Another feature that adds to the comfort of the Buick Envista is its climate control system. The unit is intuitive, with physical buttons that are accessible and easy to use. One can also enjoy the benefits of a heated steering wheel, which comes standard on the top-end Avenir trim. The rear air vents are another likable feature that adds to the overall comfort. Only a few cars in the segment offer this benefit.

The Envista is a tall car, courtesy of a slightly elevated ride height. Still, getting in and out feels comfortable for everyone.

Interior

Buick’s brand-new Envista crossover has a well-designed interior. A single, large panel, which houses the digital displays, looks stylish. The controls for the air conditioning unit sit right below the center of this panel. All seats have an attractive cloth covering with leatherette trim and accent stitching that complements the other elements of the cabin.

Despite being a small SUV, the Envista has abundant headroom (39.40 inches in the front and 37.30 at the back) and legroom (41.90 inches and 38.70 inches). This ensures everyone has a comfortable journey.

Storage

The Envista provides 20.7 cubic feet of cargo space, which is sufficient for groceries and other daily items. With the rear seats folded down, the space increases to 40 cubic feet. This arrangement is useful for accommodating multiple carry-on bags during long journeys. Up front, passengers have multiple storage options for small items. Rear passengers have door pocket storage.

Technology

Like most SUVs, the Envista has several high-tech features. All trims have an 11-inch diagonal HD color touchscreen with wireless Android Auto and Apple CarPlay for easy smartphone connectivity. This infotainment unit has straightforward menus and a clean look, ensuring one can operate it easily. Some other tech features include an 8-inch diagonal color driver information center, a 12-volt power outlet, charging-only USB ports, power door locks, and a Wi-Fi hotspot.

Safety and driver assistance

The Buick Envista also has several safety and driver assistance systems to protect drivers and passengers. While some are standard, others must be purchased by paying extra.

  • Blind-spot warning
  • Adaptive cruise control
  • HD rear vision camera
  • Forward collision alert
  • Following distance indicator
  • Automatic emergency braking
  • Rear cross-traffic alert

These systems operate smoothly and are activated without hassle. They do not produce unnecessary or false alarms. The adaptive cruise control system is especially handy as it helps drivers keep up with the traffic on the highway without leaving a vast gap with the vehicle ahead.

Pricing

Customers can find the Buick Envista for sale in three trims, each with a different price tag.

  • Envista Preferred: $23,700
  • Envista Sport Touring: $25,795
  • Envista Avenir: $29,695

The Buick Envista’s cost can change depending on the additional features included. Typically, advanced features are available as standard in the top-level Avenir and optional in the Preferred and Sport Touring.
